Like the bodywork, the inside fibreglass face of the mirror assembly is painted with Tough Black paint
Holes are marked out from the mirrors to he doors and then drilled
The mirror securing screws need their heads to be recessed into the door. I find a suitably sized 4 tooth endmill. With the drill bit used to make the initial holes, I trn the end down in the lathe to fit the centre hole of the endmill. I can now use the drill to centralise the endmill and cut a rebate in the door.

To provide additional strength to the door, body filler needs to be used to fill the interior. To preserve the hole for the mirror cable to pass a length of rubber tube is inserted. I use a syringe to quickly get the filler into place. Once it starts to set the rubber tube was pulled out. Aquick wipe over with some Acetone cleans off any surplus filler.
The aluminium backplates are a bit too tight fit over the mirror control mechanism, a quick dressing with a drum sander in the drill sorts this.
Next they are centre punched, drilled and then secured.
The mirror glass is very tight in places when fitted to housing, I sand the housing edges where required with a drum sander in the drill ad then apply some more Tough Black paint to the sanded edges.
