December 2011

Not much time in the garage this month, most of the visits were to stock up the kitchen fridge with beer from the garage fridge. I did find time to assemble the passenger footrest though.

The passenger footrest needs drilling and riveting together. I measure the rivet line and with masking tape mark out  and centre punch the hole locations. Initially I start using the pillar drill with a wooden support, this was fine for the bottom holes, but I could not get access for the upper holes. I clamp the wood on a workbench and complete the drilling with a cordless hand drill.

Once the two side pieces have been rivetted in place I set to drilling the holse to locate it in the car. Again I use masking tape to assist initial measure and marking and then centre puch the positions. For the rear I opened the holes out to be open ended slots to ease fitting if removed at a later date.
