August 2013

I visited the factory open day and took loads of photos. Particularly interested in body fit and   shut lines. I have a long chat with one of the guys regarding body fit. One of the messages I take away is that I am probably trying to get things 'too perfect'. I also pick up some good tips.

So I fit the small body buffers. These need cutting down. I find some steel of the thickness I need the buffers to be and drill a hole the size of the buffer. I then get a second piece of steel and drill a hole that has clearance for the threaded shaft of the buffer. Clamping the two together and putting a nut and washer to hold the buffer in place I can slice off the excess with a sharp blade.

I locate the holes for the buffers using masking tape and then drill and tap the holes in the clips.

To assist in locating the fore and aft direction of the body, I finds some 1 mm aluminium and clamp it to the front of the chassis so that it is easily visible when the body is located flush to it.
